On August 24, 2024, the launch ceremony of the National Primary and Secondary School Science and Technology Youth AI Navigation Plan and the "Master Face-to-Face" lecture was held in Beijing. It is reported that the "National Primary and Secondary School Science and Technology Youth AI Navigation Plan" (hereinafter referred to as the Navigation Plan) was initiated by the China Artificial Intelligence Society, and organized by the China Artificial Intelligence Society Primary and Secondary School Work Committee and Xueersi Online School, aiming to unite various forces to promote the popularization of artificial intelligence education and help young people broaden their horizons and improve their comprehensive quality.

"2024 Navigation Plan" kickoff meeting

At the launch ceremony, Yuan Zhongguo, Secretary-General of the China Artificial Intelligence Society's Primary and Secondary School Work Committee, Wen Jirong, Dean of the Information College of Renmin University of China and Executive Dean of Gaoling Artificial Intelligence Institute, and Xueersi's Head of Programming and Innovation, Xie Wenyi, attended and delivered speeches and shared their insights to contribute to the popularization and ecological construction of youth artificial intelligence education.

Yuan Zhongguo, Secretary-General of the China Artificial Intelligence Society’s Primary and Secondary School Work Committee, stated that in 2017, the State Council issued the New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, which established clear goals and roadmaps for the development of artificial intelligence in China. This plan is not just a layout for the technology field, but also sets strategic requirements for the comprehensive development of the country in the future. The National Primary and Secondary School Science and Technology Youth AI Navigation Plan is a response to these requirements. The original intention is to discover and consolidate the interest and learning willingness of young people in artificial intelligence, guide young people to explore the vast ocean of artificial intelligence, and hope that more children will fall in love with artificial intelligence.

Yuan Zhongguo then reviewed the achievements of the 2023 Navigation Plan: In the past year, the Navigation Plan has conducted 4 offline master classes, inviting many leading figures in the artificial intelligence industry to share their insights and experiences; it has carried out 3 "Science and Technology Youth Exploration" practical activities, covering venues such as Tsinghua University and well-known Internet companies Baidu and JD.com, to experience the most cutting-edge emerging technologies and artificial intelligence applications. A total of more than 500 students have actively participated in offline activities, and the cumulative number of students participating in free public welfare artificial intelligence popular science courses online has exceeded 20,000.

Yuan Zhongguo introduced that in 2024, the new Navigation Plan will continue to implement projects such as "Public Welfare Master Classes," "Artificial Intelligence Master Series Classroom," and "Artificial Intelligence Exploration and Practice Activities." The frequency, scale, and coverage of activities will all be further enhanced compared to the previous year, with the hope of benefiting more students through these activities.

Xueersi's Head of Programming and Innovation, Xie Wenyi, introduced that in recent years, artificial intelligence has been bringing about huge changes to the world. We often think about how to educate children to meet the needs of this era. Xueersi has proposed a three-pronged strategy of science, education, popularization, and innovation, hoping to do more in the field of artificial intelligence and scientific popularization, and to prepare children for a new era.

Teacher Xie Wenyi expressed great honor to cooperate with the China Artificial Intelligence Society and continue to host the National Primary and Secondary School Science and Technology Youth AI Navigation Plan in 2024, to contribute to the popularization of artificial intelligence education, and to provide more children with the opportunity to hear the insights of masters and be introduced to the enlightenment of artificial intelligence, becoming creators of the future artificial intelligence era.
