TAL Education Group Debuts AI Learning Breakthroughs at WAIC Summit, Charts Future of Smart Education

The 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) launched in Shanghai on July 4-7, coinciding with the Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence High-Level Meeting.

"Artificial Intelligence + Education" is one of the hot areas attracting significant attention at the conference. It is widely acknowledged that artificial intelligence greatly empowers the education sector and brings ample opportunities. Education has become a representative industry for the product-level implementation of large model technology. "Education and Talent" is one of the top ten key topics of this year’s conference, with education companies such as Xueersi, NetEase Youdao, and Yuanfudao showcasing their AI products, becoming the “new faces” receiving attention.

Representing tech education companies, Xueersi showcased its two flagship products, MathGPT and Xueersi Xpad, at this year’s AI conference, demonstrating the latest applications and future prospects of AI in intelligent learning hardware and product application layers.

CTO Tian Mi to Speak at Forum on Educational LLMs and Personalized Learning

This year's AI conference is truly "star-studded," with many world-class scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, and other luminaries discussing forefront technologies, industry trends, and ethical governance in the AI field.

TAL Education Group CTO Tian Mi will participate in the forum session. On July 6, he will deliver a keynote speech titled "Educational Large Models: Building a Blueprint for Future Personalized Learning" at the "AI Industrial Innovation and Investment Development Summit.” According to reports, Tian Mi will share the future vision and plans for the industrialization of MathGPT, combining its latest R&D achievements and deployed products.

MathGPT: New Q&A Feature "Anytime Ask" Outperforms GPT-4o in Problem-Solving

Xueersi’s MathGPT is one of the first registered educational large models in China, garnering significant attention in the education field.

Recently, MathGPT launched a new math Q&A tool “Anytime Ask,” which is based on generative AI technology. It helps students solve math problems through heuristic guidance, aiming to cultivate their problem-solving thinking and enhance their math learning capabilities. Currently, the “Anytime Ask” mini-program can be easily accessed via WeChat, and the app version is also gradually becoming available for download.

At the exhibition, numerous visitors paused to try out the problem-solving and explanation capabilities of "Anytime Ask."  For example, when taking a picture of a fourth-grade math problem with a phone, it analyzes the knowledge points and forms tested by the problem instead of directly providing the answer. This step-by-step guidance allows students to solve the problem independently, significantly showing the potential of AI in personalized learning guidance.

Reportedly, since its development and full release, MathGPT has established advantages in problem-solving and explanation algorithms, particularly excelling in primary and secondary school mathematics. In March of this year, it topped the MathEval mathematics large model competition leaderboard and recently outperformed GPT-4o in a college entrance examination math problem-solving evaluation.

Xueersi Xpad: AI Improves Learning Experience with Precise Personalization

The Xueersi Xpad attracted many attendees at the conference, with particular attention drawn to features like Xiao Si Dialogue, Xiao Si Circle Learning, AI Speaking Grading, and Chinese and English Essay Correction, receiving extensive praise and astonishment.

By calling "Xiao Si, Xiao Si," users can activate the intelligent assistant, allowing users to enter study mode, access various apps, or engage in continuous topic discussions with Xiao Si,” explained an on-site staff member.

This May, Xiao Si underwent a new round of upgrades. “Xiao Si Dialogue” now features a memory system, enabling follow-up conversations based on previous topics, and an emotion recognition system that can identify the speaker’s emotions (such as happiness, fear, sadness, or anger) and respond accordingly. Additionally, Xiao Si generates growth reports and parenting suggestions for parents by analyzing dialogue records to uncover children’s interests and strengths.

“Xiao Si Circle Learning” is an innovative on-screen Q&A solution enabling instant math problem guidance,English translations, or explanations of new words with simple circle-drawing. Based on large language models, the “AI Speaking Grading” feature offers progressive AI-driven speaking practices suited to students’ specific learning conditions, helping children of different ages and levels start practicing English speaking easily.
