Recently, the annual event "Digital Learning Week," hosted by UNESCO and focused on digital learning, officially kicked off at its headquarters in Paris. TAL Education Group was invited to attend the conference.
Under the vision of "Promoting Education with Technology," Digital Learning Week focuses on the impact of digital learning platforms and generative AI on education. It aims to promote digital innovation in higher education in the digital age, promote cross-border cooperation, and build a more inclusive and sustainable education system.
During Digital Learning Week, under the theme of "Empowering Education with Technology," TAL Executive President Laura, CTO Mi Tian, AI Algorithm Director Dr. Zitiao Liu, and Dean of TAL Education Research Institute Xueli Tang had in-depth discussions with Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education.

As a specialized international organization under the United Nations responsible for science and technology, UNESCO has become a pioneer and leader in global governance of artificial intelligence. In 2019, UNESCO and TAL Education Group officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly implement the "AI Promoting Future Education" plan to support educational development. Since the cooperation, TAL has become an important partner of UNESCO.
In recent years, TAL has continued to contribute to international AI and education conferences, and projects such as "AI and Future Learning," by organizing professional research study tours and hosting conferences and forums. TAL focuses on exploring cutting-edge trends in AI education, AI education and ethics, K-12 AI literacy frameworks, and other areas. Together with UNESCO, they have formed a series of research outcomes such as the "K-12 AI Curriculum: Official AI Curriculum Design Guide" and "Artificial Intelligence and Education: Policy Maker's Guide," guiding future AI curriculum design policies, national curricula, or in-school learning projects.
TAL's exploration and practice in the field of AI and education have been recognized by UNESCO multiple times and promoted globally as a Chinese solution for AI+Education. TAL's "AI Teacher Language Learning System" has been recognized by UNESCO as a model AI application in reading and language learning and included in the "Global Policymakers' Guide" for recommendation. TAL was awarded the "AI and Inclusion" Innovative Demonstration Project Certificate during the 2020 UNESCO Mobile Learning Week for its application of AI and big data to enhance literacy skills. The "Xueersi Online School AI Teacher Mandarin Teaching System" project was the only educational informatization project from China to be shortlisted as one of the top five for the 2019 UNESCO Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa ICT in Education Prize.
