Xueersi Attends UNESCO's "Digital Learning Week" and Delivers Keynote Speech

Recently, UNESCO hosted the annual "Digital Learning Week" event at its headquarters in Paris, with Xueersi  being one of the invitees.

This year's "Digital Learning Week" is the renamed version of UNESCO's "Mobile Learning Week," which had been held for over a decade. It has now become UNESCO's new flagship annual event for digital learning, focusing on guiding human-centered digital transformation in education. Public digital learning platforms and generative AI are the core topics, with experts, scholars, and business representatives from various countries attending.

On the morning of September 6 local time, during the main forum of "Digital Learning Week," Xueersi  CTO Mi Tian delivered a keynote speech on "Achieving Large-Scale Personalized Learning Based on LLM (Large Language Model) Technology." He introduced the latest developments of Xueersi MathGPT (Mathematical Large Model), shared how Xueersi plans to use LLM technology for large-scale personalized learning, and announced the forthcoming launch of a product-level application, AI Tutor, based on Xueersi MathGPT.

Mi Tian mentioned that over the past 20 years, Xueersi has been exploring genuine personalized learning technologies. The advent of LLM (Large Language Model) technology presents new possibilities for addressing these challenges. "Compared to technologies such as search engines and knowledge graphs, LLM offers a more efficient means to acquire and apply knowledge from data." However, since general models like GPT-4 are not directly suitable for personalized learning, Xueersi decided to develop its own large-scale educational model. On August 24th, they officially announced the internal testing of their trillion-parameter model in the field of mathematics, named MathGPT. Currently, MathGPT has achieved several top scores in comparative tests using public mathematical assessment datasets.

In his speech, Mi Tian publicly disclosed for the first time that the Xueersi team is developing a personalized learning product, AI Tutor, which is expected to enter internal testing soon. "Looking ahead, Xueersi will continue to advance in two directions. First, continually enhancing MathGPT's problem-solving capabilities, and second, continuously improving AI Tutor's teaching effectiveness. We hope every child can enjoy high-quality personalized learning services," he stated. "Our dream is to achieve large-scale personalized learning through AI technology." During the interactive session of the forum, Tian Mi engaged in further in-depth discussions with experts and representatives from various countries on topics related to generative AI in the field of education.
