Immediately after receiving the complaints, the staff of Xueersi Online School realized that someone was maliciously collecting user information, impersonating Xueersi Online School to harass and mislead consumers by phone. Xueersi Online School quickly organized the clues, collected evidence, and contacted the Xishan Branch of Wuxi Public Security Bureau based on the clues to assist the police in the investigation.

According to the Wuxi Public Security Bureau, after receiving the report from Xueersi Online School, the Xishan Branch set up a special task force to carry out research and investigation, and traced the active criminal gang to Shenzhen, Dongguan, and other places. The suspects used niche chat tools as a means of communication, posted targeted K12 ad content in various education groups, obtained various information illegally from the upstream according to the needs of buyers, and then provided targeted K12 ad content to the buyers. The content of the ads included names, phone numbers, grades, regions, and more, ranging in price from a few cents to tens of yuan. Buyers then used this information for unethical marketing, disrupting the order of the education and training market and forming a black industrial chain. The police are still investigating the case.

Users should be cautious when receiving phone calls and take precautions against being deceived. The Xishan Branch of Wuxi Public Security Bureau also wants to remind the public to strengthen the protection of personal privacy and increase awareness of information security in their daily lives and work. At the same time, when receiving harassing or coercive calls, the public should be vigilant and not easily believe the other party's words. They should carefully verify and confirm the origin of the number and the identity of the contact person. If they realize that it is a harassing or even fraudulent call, they should promptly call the 12321 reporting hotline and report it to the Network Bad and Junk Information Reporting Center.
