Recently, the World Artificial Intelligence Conference opened in Shanghai. At the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the construction of 10 national new generation artificial intelligence open innovation platforms by 10 units. This is a continuation of the previous construction of 5 open innovation platforms, and the Ministry of Science and Technology is continuing to promote platform construction in key areas. The new 10 platforms are Vision Computing - iFLYTEK, Marketing Intelligence - Minglue Technology, Basic Software - Huawei, Inclusive Finance - Ping An of China, Video Perception - Hikvision, Intelligent Supply Chain - JD.com, Image Perception - SenseTime, Security Brain - 360, Smart Education - GSX Techedu, and Smart Home - Xiaomi.

Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology Li Meng pointed out that he hopes the 10 open innovation platforms will be based on the major needs of artificial intelligence, promote industry open sharing, and help the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, becoming a driving force for the technological innovation and industrial ecosystem development of artificial intelligence in China.

In August, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the "Guidelines for the Construction of National New Generation Artificial Intelligence Open Innovation Platform", which emphasized that the open innovation platforms of the new generation of artificial intelligence are led by leading enterprises in the artificial intelligence industry, and encourage research institutions and universities to participate in the construction and provide intellectual and technological support. The document also specifies the four key tasks of the open innovation platform construction: conducting technical innovation in segmented fields; promoting dissemination and application of results; providing open and shared services; and guiding innovation and entrepreneurship of small, medium-sized enterprises and industry developers.

Lin Nianxiu, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that the Chinese economy is transitioning from a high-speed growth stage to a stage of high-quality development, and new-generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence have become an important force in the transformation of old and new driving forces. According to relevant estimates, by 2020, China's artificial intelligence industry is expected to exceed 160 billion yuan, driving related industries to exceed 1 trillion yuan. The artificial intelligence industry plays an important role in economic and social development. The birth of the latest batch of national artificial intelligence open innovation platforms not only reflects the vigorous development of the Chinese artificial intelligence industry but also provides a new perspective for the development of the Chinese artificial intelligence industry.
