The Xueba Online School project was selected as a typical case of internet poverty alleviation by the Central Cyberspace Affairs Office.

Recently, the "suspension of classes without suspension of study" and "hope online" projects under the Xueersi Online School, owned by TAL Education Group, were selected as typical cases of network poverty alleviation in 2020, becoming models for poverty alleviation.

It is reported that Zhang Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Internet Association, released the top ten cases, typical cases, and outstanding organizational units of 2020 network poverty alleviation at the Social Organization Poverty Alleviation Forum on National Poverty Alleviation Day on October 14.

The case collection and evaluation are guided by the Information Technology Development Bureau of the Central Cyberspace Administration and hosted by the China Internet Association of Social Organizations. It was launched on June 10 this year for the purpose of collecting typical cases of genuine poverty alleviation from frontline poverty alleviation efforts with significant results and recognized by the masses from internet-based enterprises and social organizations.

As representatives of typical cases of network poverty alleviation, the Xueersi Online School's "suspension of classes without suspension of study" and "hope online" projects have made effective explorations in using technology and the internet to promote balanced development in education, and have also been recommended by the Information Technology Development Bureau of the Central Cyberspace Administration.

At the beginning of this year, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, Xueersi Online School announced the launch of free live broadcast classes and self-study classes synchronized with the school schedule from Monday to Friday starting from February 10, covering all subjects from the first grade of primary school to the third grade of high school. In addition, the Xueersi Online School also provided a wealth of literacy courses, master classes, and parent classes for free.

During the epidemic, the number of students watching the live broadcast classes of Xueersi Online School reached tens of millions every day, covering all parts of the country, from Xinjiang in the north to Hainan Island in the south, from Henan in the central region to the Yungui region in the west, including many children from remote and impoverished areas.

If the "suspension of classes without suspension of study" project of Xueersi Online School is a battle for education-based poverty alleviation, then "hope online" is a long-term project to use the internet to assist in education-based poverty alleviation.

In 2017, the TAL Education Group's Public Welfare Foundation launched the "Hope Online" education public welfare platform, starting from the needs of impoverished areas, organizing the recruitment of volunteers and forming volunteer teams in research and development, teaching, research, technology, and other aspects, providing education and technological resources from TAL Education Group to help improve the education level of impoverished areas.

Since its launch, the "Hope Online" platform has covered 20 counties in 11 provinces such as Shaanxi, Hebei, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Sichuan, benefiting more than 120,000 teachers and students in impoverished areas.
