TAL Wang Yiting: Intelligent Public Welfare Promotes Technology for Good

On October 21st, as a representative of the technology education industry, Wan Yi, the head of public affairs of Tomorrow Group, was invited to participate in the "Internet Public Welfare and Charity" forum at the 6th World Internet Conference. She shared insights on how technology companies can fulfill corporate social responsibility and support internet public welfare and poverty alleviation.

Wan Yi, head of public affairs of Tomorrow Group, shares the public welfare practices of Tomorrow Group

Wan Yi believes that the theme of "Technology for the Good of Society" aligns well with the conference. Tomorrow Group has a long history of public welfare and has consistently adhered to the belief that doing good in education is the greatest form of public welfare. In the process of education, Tomorrow Group has always been thinking about how to better utilize the positive aspects of technology and restrain the negative aspects.

Wan Yi pointed out that artificial intelligence can play a significant role in the supply-side aspects of education and poverty alleviation. Through AI, classrooms can become high-quality, low-burden, large-scale, and personalized.

At the same time, Tomorrow Group has also conducted research on the ethical issues of artificial intelligence in education in cooperation with UNESCO, in order to protect children's rights to a greater extent.

Speaking of how to use artificial intelligence to assist intelligent public welfare, Wan Yi also shared a story with the guests present at the event. The story comes from Zhaojue County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, where more than 98% of the population are Yi people. In a national primary school, a second-grade student suddenly saw the image of an elderly Yi woman on the classroom screen one day. The elderly woman first said "mother" in Yi language, then taught "grandmother" in Mandarin. All the children involuntarily read and practiced together. After reading, the cartoon teacher on the screen would give everyone assessments and correct pronunciation, and she fell in love with this system instantly.

Since then, she not only studies in the classroom, but also teaches her younger siblings at home and even shares with her parents. This system is the "AI Teacher Mandarin Teaching System" independently developed by Tomorrow Group's Xueersi Online School. Currently, about 80,000 Yi children in Zhaojue County are efficiently learning Mandarin through this system.

Wan Yi believes that there is still a lot of intelligent transformation space on the supply side of public welfare. Intelligent public welfare can make classrooms and public welfare products more high-quality, low-burden, large-scale, personalized, and sustainable. Wan Yi introduced that when the engineers of Tomorrow Group saw that their technology truly realized the original intention of education and poverty alleviation, each of them was tearful and felt that all their work and sacrifices were worthwhile. In this process, everyone can feel the power of technology for the good of society.

Today, Tomorrow Group has also opened up multiple products and technologies. Wan Yi stated that Tomorrow Group hopes to cooperate with more public welfare organizations, governments, schools, other enterprises, and colleagues in the education industry to expand and improve the education and poverty alleviation projects.
